Like contemporary medical doctors, naturopathic treatment practitioners identify, diagnose, and treat patients for their conditions and illnesses.

Demand: Naturopathic Medicine is a unique and distinct system of healthcare that emphasizes the use of prevention and natural therapeutics. The doctors who practice naturopathic medicine, called naturopathic doctors NDs, are trained to serve as primary care general practitioners who are experts in the prevention, diagnosis, management, and treatment of both acute and chronic health conditions.

Education: In order to be a licensed Doctor of Naturopathy (ND) or Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (NMD), students must complete a 4-year, graduate-level program accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education. The first two years of a naturopathic medical degree are the same as for traditional medical students.
